How to Use G Power For Mac to Compute Effect Sizes and Power for Various Tests

G*Power is a tool to compute statistical power analyses for many different t tests, F tests, χ2 tests, z tests and some exact tests. G*Power can also be used to compute effect sizes and to display graphically the results of power analyses.

Improvements in the logistic regression module: (1) improved numerical stability (in particular for lognormal distributed covariates); (2) additional validity checks for input parameters (this applies also to the poisson regression module); (3) in sensitivity analyses the handling of cases in which the power does not increase monotonically with effect size is improved: an additional Actual power output field has been added; a deviation of this actual power value from the one requested on the input side indicates such cases; it is recommended that you check how the power depends on the effect size in the plot window.

Added procedures to analyze the power of tests for single correlations based on the tetrachoric model, comparisons of dependent correlations, bivariate linear regression, multiple linear regression based on the random predictor model, logistic regression, and Poisson regression.

Fixed a bug in the function calculating the CDF of the noncentral t-distribution that occasionally led to (obviously) wrong values when p was very close to 1. All power routines based on the t distribution were affected by this bug.

These pages were developed using G*Power version 3.1.9.7. You can downloadthe current version of G*Power from -psychologie-und-arbeitspsychologie/gpower.html . You canalso find help files, the manual and the user guide on this website.

G*Power is a statistical power analysis program. It is a major extension of, and improvement over, the previous version, covering many different statistical tests of the F, t, chi-square, and z test families as well as some exact tests. G*Power 3 provides improved effect size calculators and graphics options, it supports both a distribution-based and a design-based input mode, and it offers five different types of power analyses. Like its predecessors, G*Power 3 is free.

G*Power is a free software used to calculate statistical power. G*Power offers the ability to calculate power for a wide variety of statistical tests including t-tests, F-tests, and chi-square-tests, among others.

Please be aware that the IT Helpline cannot offer the same comprehensive support for these applications on personal devices as for our own services and university devices. Please read any instructions carefully before downloading, and if in doubt do not download the software until you have spoken to your tutor.

G*Power is a general power analysis programme, which is meant for determining the sample size and analysing power in research studies. The concept and the procedures involved in determining the sample size in survey studies and hypothesis testing experiments have been discussed earlier in Chaps. 3 and 4. We will now discuss the procedure of downloading and installing G*Power software. In the following two chapters (Chaps. 6 and 7), we will discuss its usage to carry out sample size determination and power analysis in hypothesis testing experiments. The G*Power is a free software which can be easily downloaded from the internet. In this chapter, we shall explain the procedure of downloading this software.

G*Power (Erdfelder, Faul, & Buchner, 1996) was designed as a general stand-alone power analysis program for statistical tests commonly used in social and behavioral research. G*Power 3 is a major extension of, and improvement over, the previous versions. It runs on widely used computer platforms (i.e., Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Mac OS X 10.4) and covers many different statistical tests of the t, F, and chi2 test families. In addition, it includes power analyses for z tests and some exact tests. G*Power 3 provides improved effect size calculators and graphic options, supports both distribution-based and design-based input modes, and offers all types of power analyses in which users might be interested. Like its predecessors, G*Power 3 is free.

The 3.1.9.6 version of G*Power for Mac is provided as a free download on our software library. The program's installation file is commonly found as GPower31Mac.zip. This free Mac app was originally created by Axel Buchner. The latest installer occupies 1.9 MB on disk.

Some of G*Power for Mac aliases include "GPower". The application relates to Education Tools. Our antivirus analysis shows that this Mac download is virus free. The most popular version of the tool is 3.1. This application's bundle is identified as gpower.

G*Power is a very general Power Analysis program for Windows and Macintosh. Performs exact analysis for 6 types of correlation tests, 3 types of bivariate regression tests, 1-group and 2-group comparison of means tests (parametric and non-parametric), 4 types of multiple regression tests, logistic regression, poisson regression, ordinary and repeated-measures ANOVAs, ANCOVAs, MANOVAs, multivariate T2 and MANOVAs, 8 types of tests of proportions (McNemar, Fisher, etc.), 1-group and 2-group variance tests, and completely generic tests involving the binomial, normal, t, chi-square, and F distributions. Computes power, sample sizes, alpha, beta, and alpha/beta ratios. Has a comprehensive web-based tutorial and reference manual.

The POWERPLAY charging current and integrated LIGHTSPEED wireless receiver are both powered with one cable. This puts the LIGHTSPEED connection right next to your mouse for the fastest and most reliable connection and eliminates the need for an additional USB port for the wireless receiver.

In version 3.0 there are additional features that include estimation of power on multi-socket systems as well as externally callable APIs to extract power information within sections of code. The multi-socket support essentially evaluates the Energy MSR on a per-socket basis and provides an estimate of power draw per socket. The API layer is a set of libraries and dlls that can be called and offers the flexibility to build the tool within code sections of an application. Latest release also includes support for Windows 10*.

Intel Power Gadget 3.5 consists of the following components. Set of driver and libraries which access and post process the processor energy counter to calculate the power usage in Watts, temperate in Celsius and frequency in GHz (default install directory will be Program FilesIntelPower Gadget 3.5). A command line version of the tool (PowerLog3.0.exe) is also included

Intel Power Gadget also provides a C/C++ Application Programming Interface (API) for accessing this power and frequency data in your program; the API is supported on Windows and Mac OS X. For more information on the API's, see:

G Power, also known as graphical power, is the ability to calculate the value of a certain number using a certain number of input data. It is the graphical representation of statistical power as it pertains to a specific set of data. The value of statistical power is usually denoted by an R-squared value that indicates the value of a certain statistical test statistic at the 95% confidence level. For example, the value of the test statistic that indicates whether a two-tailed or two-sided test is valid means that if there is an equal number of takers for both options, then the outcome is true.
